NO ONE CAN STOP YOU FROM FEEDING DOGS — NO PENALTY CAN BE IMPOSED FOR FEEDING THEM
- Stray Dog Pickup Rules (Maharashtra):
As per the Hon. Supreme Court, stray dogs can be picked up from public places (playgrounds, schools, colleges, hospitals, stations, bus stands) only when proper shelters/kennels are available
If you see dogs being taken away, ask:
1️⃣ Official order/letter
2️⃣ Name of the Municipal Nodal Officer
3️⃣ Name, address & facilities of the designated shelter
➡️ Only the Municipal Corporation has the authority to pick up stray dogs, and only if all norms are followed.
- Feeding Rules:
There is NO penalty for feeding stray dogs.*l
The General Resolution (GR) is the same Supreme Court order dated 7/11/25.
The Court has clearly directed that Municipal Corporations, Nagar Palikas and Grampanchayats must designate feeding spots.
Until such spots are officially allotted, you are allowed to feed dogs wherever you currently feed.
Fines apply only if someone feeds outside the designated spot after it is assigned.
