The Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS) is India’s planned indigenous modular space station being developed by Indian Space Research Organisation. ISRO has finalised the broad design of the station, which will consist of five modules placed in low Earth orbit at around 400–450 km. The first module, BAS-01, is targeted for launch around 2028 as a technology demonstrator, while full assembly and operational capability are planned by 2035 under India’s Space Vision 2047 roadmap. The station will support long-duration human spaceflight, microgravity research, and advanced technology demonstrations, building directly on capabilities developed through the Gaganyaan programme.
